I would like to invite you to join me for a night on top of Lost Lake’s Butte, photographing the breathtaking Mt. Hood! Enjoying the transformation from sunset to a blanket of stars. Watch the world change and learn to accurately photograph each step of the way. The mountain seems so close, you could reach out and grab it!
In this class, I will be teaching you how to properly expose, compose, and create images from sunset to stars out! All the while enjoying a wonderful evening out with a lucky few who like to adventure just as much as you do.
I will provide a wooded campsite for us to call home, at the base of the always beautiful Lost Lake. We will explore some of my favorite locations around the shore, as well as on top of the Butte. You won't just go home with a range of new inspiration and ideas, but also a range of new images. Incredible views from above or below the lake with photo opportunity are around every corner. Come join me for the adventure you've been waiting for, and let's start Milky Way season on a fun, confident foot forward!
We will meet at our reserved campsite at 4 pm and begin our hike up shortly after. The trail is 4.6 miles roundtrip. The moon sets at 5:17 pm and the sun is down at 8:26 pm leaving us wonderfully dark skies. Make sure to bring a strong flashlight, warm clothes, and coffee! It’s going to be a late night.
I will not be providing meals! Bring a good sized meal and lots of water to the top of the mountain. We will have a break before sunset, and this is a good time to eat food and drink water. You will use a lot of energy hiking up, so be sure to replenish that energy with good food!
A detailed packing list will be sent out upon sign up*
We do not set out a specific course guide as we will react to the conditions we are presented with on the day. Rain or shine, the adventure continues! The most beautiful things in life, happen for the shortest amount of time.
